No prep! Just print and hang and watch your students be engaged! Students find the volume of cones, cylinders, and spheres at the bottom of a page and HUNT for the answer at the top of another.
Students love these! Not only do they get to be up and moving around, but it is like a game where they want to correctly get to the end.
There are 10 problems, which include solving in terms of pi and approximating using 3.14. Students will need find the volume of
- composite solid composed of a cylinder & cone
- composite solid composed of a cylinder & sphere
- composite solid composed of a cylinder & hemisphere
An answer key allows you to check their work quickly. Students write the letters on their recording sheet. You can easily check that the order of the letters is correct to know if they've successfully completed the activity. If you see they are out of order, tell them which letter to go back to and try again.
This is a great activity for early finishers or when you need an activity that gets students out of their seats. I often hang some of the pages in the hallway so that students have to spread out more.
I hope you and your students love this activity!
