An interactive notebook page for teaching volume of rectangular prism with fractional lengths. There are two different notebook pages. The first introduces the topic to students using cubes to build rectangular prisms and then connecting that to rectangular prism with fractional dimensions. The second helps student find missing measurements, like length or height, when given the volume.
The formula used is V=Bh where B is the area of the base. Presenting the volume of rectangular prism in this way (as opposed to only V=lxwxh) builds a foundation for students when they learn the volume of other 3D shapes in later grades.
This product includes two versions of notes. One with all notes filled in (except the interactive parts) and one with key words left blank so students can actively participate.
To print the notes to make a booklet, print the two pages you want two sided and select “flip on the short side.” You could also print and copy 1 to 2 sided on a copier.
There is no cutting for students, only a simple fold. Students could also color as they take notes. find that students are more engaged when they have something to color.
