This activity is aligned to the 6th grade standard for finding the volume of rectangular prisms with fractional edge lengths involving unit cubes.

A warm up page is included to refresh students' memory of volume with whole number edge lengths.

Students will find the volume using fractional edge lengths-it starts out with labels of the total lengths of each side and then moves to the students calculating the lengths of each side using the lengths of each individual unit cube.

Teacher could copy into task cards packets, or use the enlarged pages to post each question around the room.

Find the volume of a right rectangular prism with fractional edge lengths by packing it with unit cubes of the appropriate unit fraction edge lengths, and show that the volume is the same as would be found by multiplying the edge lengths of the prism. Apply the formulas 𝘝 = 𝘭 𝘸 𝘩 and 𝘝 = 𝘣 𝘩 to find volumes of right rectangular prisms with fractional edge lengths in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
