I have included an anticipation guide to begin Kurt Vonnegut's short story "Harrison Bergeron." We read this article and then discuss the ethics and morality of removing awards to those who achieve more than the average and we talk about what it feels like when the same people get all the awards and the notice for being better than everyone else. There are arguments for both sides (especially if you have a diverse class in terms of race or economics). If you have the ability, there is a great video from the summer of 2015 on the Internet (youtube) titled "Trophy Nation" produced by HBO's RealSports that is about 18 minutes long that real sparks the interest in students.
The Study Guide has a variety of questions set at all levels from simple comprehension to synthesis and evaluation. One of my best lessons in the Science Fiction Unit.
