This podcast discusses the outdated Florida law in which felons, who have served their sentence, are still unable to vote in elections. Students will listen to the short podcast and read the short informational article on the NPR cite.
While students listen to the podcast they will answer the listening comprehension questions. The HOT questions ask students to discuss prior knowledge of the US Constitution, author's purpose and advantages of diverse media formats. The short writing activity poses an informative prompt, in which students will complete a writing chart where they turn the prompt into a question, create a thesis and find one piece of evidence to support their thesis.
