These are just cards that have common words that start with each of the vowel sounds (all of them, not just those that are in letters - also vowel sounds like "ay" and "ow". No "ih" for "iguana" here! It's hard to teach a child a sound has power when we teach them to associate it with something they never see! So wherever I could find an initial vowel core word, I used that instead (except with "I" because it was really hard to represent that in a way I was sure the child would understand).
Instructions for making the sounds in layman's terms are also given, such as "ee" is a smile! I cut mine up and put them on a key ring, but you can use like regular flashcards, or just have the student look at the paper.
