This vowel chart was designed specifically for use with Lucy Calkins Units of Study, Kindergarten Unit 2: Narrative, Session 7: A Vowel Chart Can Help with the Middle of Words.
If you don’t use Units of Study as your curriculum, this is still a great chart to help teach our young writers how every syllable in every word is glued together with a vowel. Teach your students how to refer back to the vowel chart when trying to solve the tricky parts in words.
BONUS! We’ve also included separate vowel posters as we like to provide as many chances for our students to be exposed to these tricky sounds! Also included are vowel glue bottle posters that we post next to our word wall for yet another reminder to our students that vowels are the glue that holds words together!
Posters are presented both in color or blackline (except the glue bottle posters) in case color printing is not an option for you.
