Here is a game to practice using vowel digraphs with different words. Students have a set of vowel digraphs and a set of word cards. They have to match the vowel cards with the word cards to make a correct word. Once they have the word, students will write it down. The student/group with the most correct words wins the game.
I played this with first graders (almost 2nd graders), and they had a blast. They were able to find 22-24 correct words. I had 2 teams of 4 with one person being the "recorder". They wrote the words down on an anchor chart. Afterwards, we went over the words and discussed why words were incorrect. We also talked about homophones.
It's definitely great practice for 1st-3rd grade and a lot of fun!
