Vowel Sounds Pocket Chart
My students love these lessons on the pocket chart and I know your students will too!
This pocket chart focuses on the different vowel sound spelling patterns that are in words. The pocket chart has engaging pictures for your students to manipulate.
This pocket chart activity can be used a number of different ways; in small groups, as a center, for review or to explicitly teach vowel sound patterns to a whole group or a small group of students.
I included a number of options with this pocket chart; pictures with words, without words and words only. When we are teaching vowel sound spelling patterns to our students we need them to see the patterns in the words so I would use the word cards or the word cards with pictures. You could also have your students match the words with the picture cards for another activity.
These vowel sound patterns are included-
a sounds - ay, ai, a-e, au, aw
e sounds - ea, ee, ew, ey
i sounds - i-e, ing, igh, ie
o sounds - o-e, oa, ou, oo, oo, ow, ow, oe, oy, oi
u sound – u-e, ue
Please SEE PREVIEW on ways to use this pocket chart in your classroom.
