This resource Wanted! targets the pivotal skills necessary in developing students’ understanding and abilities in how to create both a story plot and strong, vibrant story characters in narrative writing.
It carefully scaffolds these processes through a set of highly engaging and entertaining learning activities based on a ‘crime’ happening and the character now being wanted for that crime. It results in students creating a ‘Wanted’ poster, and a plausible story plot culminating in students creating and writing a story.
Students work through a series of activities with printable student activity templates which involve the students in thinking through various focus questions about the crime. For example:
• Possible reasons for why the crime happened?
• Description of the suspect for the crime based on ‘witness’ statements.
• How the suspect may be feeling?
• What happens next ...?
This would be an excellent resource for all students but particularly for those students who are ‘reluctant writers’ often lacking confidence and skills in knowing how to frame and write a story.
This product requires no extra prep by the teacher as it is a complete unit with all resources that teachers will need.
Please feel free to check out my other Writing Skills resources, which aim to help students step by step, in establishing and enriching the necessary skills of how to create characters in story writing.
