Crossword puzzle based on the life and works of Irish poet W.B. Yeats.
As an introduction to Yeats, how about setting students an assignment to research his life independently? Use the crossword puzzle (word bank and clues) as a skeleton to the research. At the end of the research, students should be able to explain why each word in the puzzle is important (and solve the puzzle). This is an active learning methodology, designed to stimulate students' interest, without the teacher having to do all of the work.
Each of the 30 words used in the puzzle is a key word in the study of Yeats. They include names of family members, locations, organisations, and titles of some of the more famous works. . Download the preview file to see the words used in the puzzle.
The puzzle could also be used as an assignment after completion of the a study unit on Yeats.
The solution is included. There is a word bank to assist students. You could redact this to make it more challenging.
