This project focuses on the THE FOUR MAIN TYPES OF CONFLICT that exist in Sharon Draper's novel, We Beat the Street. The comprehensive activity allows students to be creative, while also requiring them to analyze conflict in the novel and relate it to their own lives.
Included in this product are the following:
- Conflict Project Assignment Sheets for each of the novel's main characters: Sampson, George, and Rameck - explains requirements for project in great detail
- Conflict Project examples (teacher-made) - to be used for students who are struggling with getting started on the project
- Conflict Project "Paper-Saver" Rubrics - for teacher to use in order to fairly score each student's finished project; should also be shown to students before, so they know what to expect
When assigning this project, I have students draw "character cards" to see which "task" they will receive; another option is to allow students to make their own choices of which character task they'd like to complete. For my "Below-Level" students, I allow them to work in pairs to complete the assignment.
* NOTE: This product is designed as stand-alone project; it is also a component of the WE BEAT THE STREET COMPLETE UNIT, which can be purchased from my store for a SUBSTANTIAL DISCOUNT!
