Follow a slave named Walter on his quest for freedom along the Underground Railroad. This free self-paced middle-grade webquest accompanies Scholastic's wonderful interactive website simulation "The Underground Railroad: Escape From Slavery."

Although Scholastic offers teacher resources on the website, I wanted something that keeps middle school students moving briskly through the simulation and focusing on the most informative and educational aspects of Walter's journey to freedom. Your students will encounter numerous primary sources on this journey!

Students will need headphones/earbuds. An answer key is provided. Enjoy!
