Designed to correlate with Wilson Reading Step 2.1 and Fundations Reading or any program that is teaching Glued or Welded Sounds.
Pokémon Go …”Catch” a Pokémon FUNDATIONS welded sounds & digraphs and help it “evolve” into a word!
Students will love practicing their WELDED SOUNDS and digraphs & chunks with this interactive game.
This includes the FUNDATIONS WELDED SOUNDS as well as other word family ending, digraphs and full alphabet cards.
Print and laminate the Pokémon cards, lay them out on a table (you choose how many to lay out at a time) and have students take turns saying the sounds.
Give each player a Poke Ball card.
The adult (or students can take turns) calls out a card sound, and the students “catch” it by placing a Poke Ball on it.
Students can combine cards to create or “evolve” sound cards into real words.
To add to the fun, place a Velcro strip on a fly swatter (glue the Poke Ball card on top) and small Velcro dots on each Pokémon sound card. Students take turns catching the Pokémon and saying the sound or combining cards to create words !
This activity is great for literacy centers and small group instruction.
