This activity is a great way to help students differentiate between the 5 ‘wh’ questions. It includes posters to help explain the difference between each question. It also contains sentence strips and graphic organizers to target 3 levels including both sentence strips and graphic organizers both with and without picture cues. These graphic organizers can be used as a listening comprehension activity after a story is read aloud to the student, or without the stories as a hands-on activity to help differentiate between the ‘wh’ questions. This product is all black and white so no color ink is needed!
The sentence strips are based on both fiction and nonfiction stories. Nine sets of sentence strips are based on the monthly stories found in ‘Listening for Language All Year Round: An Active Listening Program for Teaching Semantics’ by Brenda Brumbaugh and Nan Thompson-Trenta (Copyright 1993 by LinguiSystems). The remaining 18 sets of sentence strips are based on stories from ReadWorks.org. These stories include 3 sets for each grade level from K-5 (you have to register for a FREE account to access these stories). However, you CAN use this product without the stories!
