An editable card set and oral-visual quiz to assess students’ knowledge of WHMIS (2015) and HHPS Symbols. Suitable for US and Canadian WHMIS.
This product is designed for students with low literacy skills, but can effectively be used with students of all literacy levels.
The WHMIS and HHPS Symbol Cards are great on their own as a matching game or review activity. Each symbol, name, and description is its own slide in a powerpoint file. I suggest printing them 4 or 6 to a page before separating and laminating.
The oral-visual quiz (a word document) was created to assess students with very low reading and/or writing skills. I prefer to complete it one student at a time (it takes only a few minutes), though my LRT found it easier to complete in small groups (each student had their own set of cards to work with). The teacher reads the questions out loud, and the students answer orally and/or select the best card(s) to answer the question. The quiz document acts as a tracking sheet to record scores and observations. Answers are included with each quiz question.
The cards and quiz are both created to be visually simple and easy to edit.
