WORKSHEET THAT WILL GET KIDS THINKING.
If you ask this question everyone will say George Washington. But instead the names are hidden and it gives a description of BOTH Hitler and George Washington. Most kids will choose the description that is for Hitler. And they will not believe you when you tell them. I love the reaction when you tell them. You have to explain each part of the description for both Hitler and Washington and explain that even though Washington was a great leader he did do some things that today might be looked down upon. Also with Hitler you have to explain how he was a charismatic leader who captured Germany because he was such a great speaker and offered hope.
This can be used in a number of ways/shapes and forms for a number of different courses/topics/lessons.
-Its great to introduce Hitler in a world history class.
-It can be great to introduce George Washington as a leader in an AMerican History class.
-It can also be used for any other class when you are talking about leaders.
-It can be used in a Humanities/English class to talk about "Don't judge a book by its cover."
