This is a game I created for my students to use during our studies of Greek and Latin roots. The rules of game play follow those of a modified, traditional UNO™, with a language twist! Feel free to use the blank cards to add specific roots your students are working on.
The game includes 124 full-color cards which review the following word parts.
Prefixes: re-, pre-, un-, in-, mis-, dis-
Suffixes: -less, -ment, -est, -able, -ness, -ful
Roots: bi, tri, dict, geo, bio, aud, inter
On his or her turn, a player can put down a card that has the same prefix, suffix or root as the top face-up card (these words parts are underlined on each card), OR a card that matches the color on the face-up card. The player should look for matching word parts first, before looking for a matching color or special card. When laying down a card, the student should say the word out loud and give the definition based on the prefix/suffix/root.
