Created by a professional children's yoga teacher, this yoga storytime lesson plan is the perfect companion to the favorite story by Bill Martin Jr and Eric Carle: "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?"
SPECIAL WINTER EDITION includes fun winter warm-up stretches (snowman pose and snowflake dance & stretches), along with a special science tie-in about Animals in Winter. Students will learn about Hibernation, Migration, and Adaptation as they act out playful poses of each animal in the story.
You'll find traditional yoga poses for each character (modified to be age- and level-appropriate), lots of fun creative movements and imaginative play, oral storytelling, breathing & calming (self-regulation) exercises, relaxation, and visualization & mindfulness activities. BONUS: 3 pages of printable yoga cards for each pose in the lesson. Use the cards with the full unit, or keep them on hand for fun brain breaks throughout the year!
Each lesson plan is KID TESTED, and includes step-by-step instructions for the poses/exercises, tons of pictures and examples of the lesson plan in action, and a list of additional resources (including books, props, songs, even a free poster, to supplement the lesson plan).
All lessons include tips on working with various ages and abilities (this specific plan is tailored to Preschoolers-2nd Grade), giving options of difficulty for poses and allowing instructors to modify for their specific students.
The lesson plans do not promote or include any spiritual/religious elements.
LENGTH: 30-45 min (or just use specific sections for a 10 minute brain break!)
