Wonder writing prompts never fail to get conversation started. And not just any surface conversation! In response to the 44 questions, learners will write a short quickwrite essay in a journal writing format. Questions like these get kids thinking deeply about life and talking deeply about the things that really matter.

These writing prompts require students to write their unedited off-the-cuff responses to various quotes, situations, issues that arise from within the story. The questions take the students into memories from their lives (activating prior knowledge), connections with the story’s characters and history (encouraging empathetic reading and understanding), and deep areas of thematic meaning (spurring informal argumentation). These discussions might prove to be some of the most meaningful explorations your students experience.

♥ I love the thought provoking questions for my students. I love to see them thinking before they begin writing their responses. Thank you for such a great resource!!

♥ Great resource to use as a review from previous day's reading! Great to use as a check in!

♥ I like how these writing prompts really get the students to think about serious life issues.

♥ Using these as five minute Quickwrites to help my students with their writing fluency. My struggling writers are actually really loving it and can get a lot more down than they thought.

♥ It used these as writing prompts for my students with disabilities class. The prompts seemed to really engage them and the language was simple enough for them to understand. They really brought out some great discussions!

♥ The Quickwrites in all of your products always elicit the best conversations!

♥ Great independent activity to get students writing and demonstrate comprehension!
