Do your kids love doing the "High Frequency Words: Build Sentences" on Connect Ed? This is a favorite activity when my kids do Connect Ed on their iPads. I wanted them to have an independent follow up activity that included reading, writing, and illustrating. Here it is...MIX AND FIX HIGH FREQUENCY WORD SENTENCES.
I start by building the sentence whole class on the computer. We discuss Capital at the beginning, punctuation at the end, and any high frequency words. Then I send the kids off to work independently on their own Mix and Fix page. Kids will cut out the words, sort and glue them onto the boxes, write the sentence, and illustrate the sentence. As a challenge, higher kids can label their pictures and add talking bubbles.
For Units 1-3, I've included 2 versions: one with just an illustration for the beginning of the year and one with a line to write the sentence for kiddos who are ready to write. For Units 4-10, kids will write and illustrate the sentence.
This could also be used as additional practice in a Literacy Center.
