As the novel Woodsong follows Gary Paulsen's training which leads to endurance for his racing experience, students answer Focus Questions about the MAIN NARRATIVE of this novel (the first 2/3 - Ch. 1 to 8).
There are Focus Questions including cause-effect, sentence completion, and fact-opinion which cover many CC standards for Reading Literature in attractive, student friendly formats.
Also, there are vocabulary worksheets and puzzles and a word search for names in the novel. (No answer key for the above.)
The actual day-by-day race at the end of the book is covered by student projects, including directions and handouts.
A TEST on the MAIN NARRATIVE portion of the book and a WEB QUEST (Internet Scavenger Hunt) are included, BOTH with ANSWER KEYS.
Attached, too, is a tri-fold research project for racing dog breeds including instructions and matrix.
Essay assignments and map work complete this unit.
