These are word family activities for the letter sounds of IC-IX. These activities can be used for a wide range of skills. They include tracing words, cutting and pasting activities, identifying the correct picture or word for the word family, matching, drawing and creating words for the word family, sentence completion, completing puzzles (unscrambling words, word searches, crossword puzzles, and using clues to complete words), editing stories, and writing stories with these word families. There are also stories and questions about these stories for each word family at the end of each activity. In addition, a short quiz follows the conclusion of a whole set of word family activities. The answer key is in the back of the workbook. You can introduce each word family by providing an example on the smart board or white board and then solicit responses from your students. Crossword puzzles, sentence completion, and stories may initially require guidance; however, after a while, your students will be able to complete these activities by themselves. These activities can be used as morning work, class work, a center activity, or independent work.
