WORD WAR is a fun game that allows students to use the knowledge that they have gained in order to challenge classmates to a dual....of words!
Points are allotted based on word choices... different points for different ways that the letters are used in the words. (a point chart is included for quick reference)
Students have 60 seconds in each round to form words based on the point structure to gain as many points as possible...and while trying to outwit the opponents (2+ players).
A bonus point is given for the longest word in a round.
At the end of 5 rounds, the points are tallied and the winner is the one with the most points!
My students said that it was "really fun," and they play it in small groups... sometimes with partners and other times as individuals.
Students must have the correct spelling in order for a word to qualify...(dictionaries are permitted...but remember there are only 60 seconds)
Just print and laminate. All you need to add is a timer.
Look at the PREVIEW for a small glimpse of what the game is all about.
I feel confident that your students will love it, too!
