There are so many things students COULD tell us even at the beginning of the year or anytime during the year. So many things they MIGHT know, DO know, so many things they have knowledge of but they just forget where they learned it. I know I thought the same thing until I came up with this project that does not require a lot of advanced knowledge. Just give me three simple answers to the question you assign. I just wanted to know how much they knew and what/where I needed to start teaching from. There was never a lot of writing, just what was IN their mind.
Print enough of each page for your students then cut them apart and pass them to each student as they enter the room. Generally I would do about 3 a week as bell-ringers. They would be easy to grade – get them ALL right and you get extra credit, miss ONE and I would toss it. These are VERY easy because there are hundreds of right answers for each question.
While my students are doing their bell-ringers; I'm taking roll; or doing what other chore I need to do.
Here are 24 state history questions each with simple three answer questions, plus one blank set of three just so you may write/ask anything I might have missed. Email me if you find something that should be here – firstname.lastname@example.org . Enjoy reading also, I really do.
