If you’re new to “Write the Room” or "Scoot" activities get ready to fall in love! They allow students to practice a skill while incorporating movement. Kids love the opportunity to explore the room and work out of order. Plus, your principal will LOVE the engagement if he/she walks in for an observation!
During this activity students find and interpret different numbers using place value/base ten blocks. The 2 recording sheets allow for students to write the number in either standard form, expanded form, and word form or break the number apart by place value.
Teacher Set Up: Print out one set of the place value cards. Cut them apart and tape them around your classroom. They do not need to be in any sort of order.
Each student will need one recording sheet. Because there are two recording sheets you could leave the cards up and use the other recording sheet another day. Woohoo for getting two lessons out of one!!
