As we work with many visual learners I developed these "visual motivators" to help stimulate and enthuse the children.
We normally discuss the picture and associated vocabulary and then build up a list of extra words that may be needed.
Then they write about the types of music they enjoy (sometimes we listen to a few genres as well!) and finally they make up a song about their families.
We share writing and proof-read and edit. I always find it better for children to share first so they actually pick up errors as they read their writing out loud.
We have had excellent results with this simple but effective procedure!
