WRITING PROMPTS ABOUT FEELINGS
Many times it's hard to get students to talk or write about their feelings. If you are looking for ways to motivate students to write about their emotions, Writing Prompts About Feelings
is for YOU! This collection of photographs and writing prompts is geared towards writing stories dealing with all types of emotions.
In the first section, students are given a photograph and six writing prompts covering the following topics:
In the next section, there are five pages of photograph prompts. Included with the prompts are questions for students to think about correlated to the photograph to help get them started. The topics include:
A Word Box is included for each writing prompt to introduce correlated and enriching vocabulary. The words vary in difficulty to challenge students at different ability levels. Encourage students to look up words they are not familiar with found in each Word Box.
Another feature of Writing Prompts About Feelings
is a collection of Mix and Match Task Cards.
Each card has a word covering the following fiction-writing components:
• Main Character
• Main Theme
Reproduce, laminate, and cut the cards apart. Ask students to select one card from each category to use as a springboard for writing about feelings.
Once the stories have been written, invite your students to share them orally with their classmates to satisfy the Core Curriculum Standards for speech.
PLUS LOTS MORE!
