I developed this four page planner to scaffold student note-taking. I used a series of developmental questions on the left hand column which begin with factual questions and move to higher order and reflective questions at the bottom. The essay asked students to consider the significance of Australia's involvement in WW2. It is based on Year 9 and 10 Australian Curriculum History. There are three scaffold pages for note-taking. The forth and final page is for planning out an historical essay with a counter-argument. I usually get my students to put lists of key words next to part of their essay to help them visually map and plan their writing. This is important because often the key to a successful essay is careful thinking and planning. I hope you enjoy this resource.
