Product Description
I created this assignment in order for students to quickly analyze a primary source without having to write an essay, and to learn/practice 3 "historical thinking skills": Central Claim, Context, and Corroboration. I have had a lot of success with imparting those skills in a quick and easy fashion using this activity. First, students read a passionate anti-war speech by Robert LaFollete, and then complete a variety of quick tasks that practice important skills. A great follow up activity after learning about the home front and controversial government decisions such as the Sedition and Espionage Acts.
