*** UPDATES: Added section on prisoners of war, and changed the reflection question. If you want the older version, I've included that in the PDF as well.
This World War I stations activity is a good intro into aspects of the war.
This activity includes reading, pictures, and videos of...
1: Life in the Trenches
2: Women and the War Effort
3: New Weapons of War: Poison Gas
4: New Weapons of War: Machine Gun
5: New Weapons of War: Tanks
6: Dogs in WWI
**ADDED 7: Prisoners of War (needs laptops and/or phones for this section)
(something to add would be horse)
How it works:
1. Split classroom and desks into 6 groups. Each station will have the reading materials, photos, and tech for the video if possible (videos are optional links at the bottom of some stations).
2. Students get to work with each other, read the placards, and look at the images to answer questions in the worksheet about each station. Each station should take about 7 minutes.
3. Students get to reflect on the information they've learned at the end with a short writing piece.
Again, this is a fun intro into different aspects of WWI. This lesson should follow instruction of the beginnings of WWI.
