This WWII political cartoon resource, for World History or US History, is designed to be used in a variety of ways.
First, some or all of the primary source documents can be used as an alternative to a traditional test. The documents can be presented at the end of a unit on WWII as a summative assessment. A study guide is also provided in order to help students prepare for this assessment.
Documents can also be assigned to students individually as warm-up or homework assignments after they have learned about the specific topic depicted.
Topics addressed include:
-Russian/Germany Nonaggression Pact
-Battle of Britain
-Attack of Pearl Harbor
-Battle of Midway
-Unconditional Surrender of Italy
-Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
An answer key is provided for all of the political cartoon questions.
Additionally, there is a creative project and rubric included. Students can synthesize the knowledge they have gained from their study of World War II with their analysis of political cartoons to create their own WWII political cartoon.
