This activity encourages students to dig into the music of WWII, use these songs as primary sources, and experience the era through music. An added bonus is that they can share this activity with older adualts to bridge the generation gap and possibly stimulate discussion about WWII and musical tastes. I’ve included a link to a website that allows student to create their own CD covers, instructions, an example CD cover and song summary, a simple grading rubric, and some teacher tips. Students are not required to burn a CD but certainly can do so as a gift to an adult, a donation to the school/classroom library or for themselves. If you like you can create a “music store” with the completed CD covers and have students browse through and discuss each other’s creations.
