This is a mini-unit that will cover 4 or 5 days of teaching about World War II and the Holocaust. It works extremely well in Social Studies and American History classes, as well as for support when teaching World War II literature, such as The Book Thief, Night, The Devil's Arithmetic, Number the Stars, and other books.
The mini-unit includes 5 VERY detailed interactive Powerpoint presentations that can be presented in a teacher-guided learning environment, or that students can read and review on their own as part of close reading activities. It also works well when students are partnered to a single computer and can write out journal notes together. The Powerpoints are editable and can be adapted to your teaching style.
Following the readings, there is also a review sheet, where further research and activities can be designed. I used these questions as research points to bring meaningful discussions into the classroom prior to reading World War II and Holocaust related literature titles.
