This 37 page presentation teaches students the basic sequence of events in the Pacific Theatre of World War II.
About these WWII Pacific Theatre Games for Smart Board
The presentation, which runs using Smart Board notebook software, has 24 pages taking students through the key facts and events of the Pacific Theatre, including:
-----the formation of the Axis,
-----the attack on Pearl Harbor
-----the OTHER locations attacked by the Japanese on Dec 7-8, 1941,
-----the early battles of Coral Sea and Midway,
-----the Philippine and island-hopping campaigns,
-----the Casablanca Conference at which decisions about the war against Japan were made,
-----the strategic importance of Iwo Jima,
-----the atomic bombing of Japan,
-----and the surrender of Japan.
After those 24 pages, there are 13 pages of review activities asking students to recall key events, leaders, and alliances, as well as to put the Pacific War in order. These are self-checking interactive activities.
Ways to Use these WWII in the Pacific Games for Smart Board
I use this presentation both to teach and review the Pacific War. It is a great sponge activity -- during our World War Two unit I will have it on the SmartBoard at the start of class and students will enthusiastically try the games, day after day.
This presentation helps both to teach the students and motivate them to learn.
Don't have a Smart Board? NO PROBLEM! With the free Smart Notebook Viewer program, any Windows computer can open a Smart Notebook file, and students can play the games with a mouse or touchscreen!
To download the free Smart Notebook Viewer install file, click below:
Details about the Smart Notebook Viewer: From SMART Technologies: With SMART Notebook interactive viewer, anyone can open your lessons and view pages with page sorter, play embedded recordings and Adobe Flash content, write over content in digital ink and interact with widgets, animations and activities. Once SMART Notebook interactive viewer is downloaded, users can open a SMART Notebook file and its attachments without an Internet connection.
About the preview file:
This download includes an extensive preview. The first and last twelve pages of the SmartBoard file are provided in thumbnail format in a pdf file, for a total of 24 out o fthe 37 pages. You can magnify the images in Adobe Reader to see them in detail. -->Obviously, the preview images will not be interactive games such as you will receive in the full download, but they will give you a very clear idea about what the full download covers and how it approaches the topic. [Note: the "flash" icon on one page of the pdf file represents the fact that the "put the war in order" activity can't be screencapped by the pdf utility I used).
