All of my students were at different levels when it came to sentence development. I developed this WWW (Wonderful Words of the Week) process to help all of my students acquire the common language needed when building sentences. This one-page assessment is the first of 8 assessments that begin with easy simple sentences and build into compound and complex sentences. For this assessment, students build two 2-word sentences. They use a picture for their sentence. (You can use your own pictures or look into WWW1 Teaching and Practice, which also includes step-by-step instructions about how to introduce subjects and power verbs.) Separate PowerPoints are available to incorporate Thinking Maps while teaching about Nouns, Pronouns, and Verbs.
