All of my students were at different levels when it came to sentence development. I developed this WWW (Wonderful Words of the Week) process to help all of my students acquire the common language needed when building sentences. This one-page assessment is the sixth of 8 assessments that begin with easy simple sentences and build into compound and complex sentences. This assessment includes two different assessments. One is for simple sentences connected with a semi-colon, and the other is for simple sentences connected with a comma and conjunction.
This assessment builds on the previous assessment, but this assessment includes compound sentences. This assessment uses a picture for the students to get ideas for sentences. (You can use your own pictures or look into WWW6 Teaching and Practice, which also includes step-by-step instructions about how to introduce compound sentences.)
Separate PowerPoints are available to incorporate Thinking Maps while teaching about compound sentences.
