Modern Warfare in World War One - Advances in science and technology played a major role in the development of weapons and tactical strategies in WWl. Inventors, engineers, and scientists in both Allied and Axis nations sought new ways to improve weapon technology in order to gain an advantage.

Much of the war was fought along the Western Front in Central Europe using trench warfare. Trench warfare caused a stalemate between the armies that lasted years - life in the trenches was miserable. Soldiers had to deal with artillery bombardments, mud, miles of barbed wire, disease, and "armies" of rats. Airplanes, airships, battleships, chemical gas, machine guns, armored tanks, and long-range artillery were all used in warfare for the first time.

Individual firearms were more accurate and soldiers needed to rely on better-equipped gear including steel helmets and gas masks for protection.

Included in this set are images of an American helmet and gas mask; Thomas Morse S-4 American Scout Plane; U.S.S Rhode Island - warship; Browning 1917 machine gun; long-range mobile artillery cannon with shell; armored tank; M-1 Rifle with bayonet; German zeppelin (airship) with hand-held bomb; trenches with no-man's land, and a rat.

The set will download as a zip file which is easy peasy to open! You'll then see your individual images and will be good to go!
