Sometimes waiting is a difficult thing that students must learn to do. Idle hands can get all over things or "into" things. I have had several students who put hands in their pants or touching others causing problem behavior. So instead, this simple social story gives several competing and socially appropriate/ child typical behaviors to teach your student to do with his or her hands. I usually read this to my student before having to get in line while waiting to go to specials. Of course, most ideally is to decrease wait time. But when that is not possible my student reads this social story WHILE waiting. Great for students on the autism spectrum.
