This is an acting game with a social theme, for performers and non performers.
Theater Games and Improvisation Exercises can be used as tools in many types of learning as well as being useful in the study of the dramatic arts. Students can learn from enacting roles in created scenarios, imagining themselves as characters with traits and purposes that may be similar, or contrary to their own. In performing skits, participants, whether versed in the performing arts or not, can be educated by relating to the characters they are creating as well as studying and being affected by those performing along with them.
In this game, students will have the opportunity to experience bullying from the inside out. The purpose of the game is to create an awareness of each individual’s social responsibility. Your students will be able to act out many instances of bullying and how it affects the victim and everyone concerned.
Students participate in creating many different scenarios where bullying can exist, by pulling from their own circumstances, those of their friends and acquaintances, from news stories and/or from other current events reporting.
Part One of this role playing exercise will explore the actual circumstance of the bullying and as a Part Two, it will explore the aftermath, the ramifications and how far reaching the actions can be.
This role playing game can be used as a performing arts study exercise. It also can be used in a class dedicated to social values, communications, and/or character building. This is also a great game to be started by a drama class or club and performed for the school in an assembly for advocacy and awareness in bullying situations
The enactments the students will be performing should provide a starting point for discussion and awareness. For all students- creativity, imagination, and individuality can be tapped. Social lessons can be learned. Audiences can be enlightened and informed.
