Do your students need to get up and move? This activity is perfect for doing just that! Walk it, Read it, Write it! is an interactive "write the room" activity that gets kids up, moving around the room, and learning all at the same time. And don't worry about spending a lot of time prepping for this activity. All you need to do is print the related facts cards and response sheet, cut the cards out, and hang the cards around the room. And, that's it!
In this activity, your students will look at the task card. They will need to decide if they need to use ai or ay to complete the word correctly. On the recording sheet, your students will write the word using the correct team. For example: If the student reads st____ on the card, then on their recording sheet they would write "stay".
Here's an example of one of the cards:
ai or ay?
What do I say?
This activity is a great way for your class to review skills or even find out what they know about new skills that you are about to focus on. This would also be a great activity to use in a word work center or as a Fast Finisher activity.
Whatever the reason, your students are sure to have fun with "Walk it, Read it, Write it!."
