The purpose of this resource is to create an active maths lesson where pupils get out of their desks to complete the task. The focus of the task is to assess a general level of mathematical ability across a range of math skills, while at the same time giving an opportunity for pupils to have some fun.
Laminate and cut out the twenty six cards. On each card is a QR Code and a large letter of the alphabet. Embedded in each QR Code is a math question covering a variety of math topics. Place these cards randomly around the classroom or around the school to create a type of maths trail.
Print out a copy of the Pupil Answer Sheet for each pupil/pair. When the pupil finds each card on their “Walkabout” they scan the QR Code with a mobile device, work out the answer to the question embedded in the QR Code and write the answer beside the appropriate letter on their answer sheet.
An answer sheet for the teacher is also provided.
