The walkthrough/coaching matrix is used to inform the instructional leadership team who they will visit each day. The instructional focus is the portion of the instructional framework the leadership team will observe. The time depends on the instructional focus. For example, if the leader wants to observe 3rd grade guided reading and guided reading takes place at 8:00am in the morning, you would simply put time: 8:00am-8:40am, Grade Level: 3rd Grade. The leader will know he or she must visit between 8:00am-8:40am in order to observe the instructional focus. The short visits can be 7-10 minutes. The long visits should be at least 30 minutes. The long visits are used for teachers in need of extensive coaching, co-teaching and modeling.
