This rubric can be used cross-curricula!!
Do you have students that allow others to do all of the work for them when they are working in groups?
Do you have students who can be rude to group members that they are supposed to be interacting with cooperatively?
Well, I did too...... until I created this rubric.
This rubric has been aligned to the CCS and designed to produce effective and cooperative learning groups in the classroom by allowing students to reflect on their own behavior and usefulness in their group.
Beginning of the year - Sit with groups and ask each student to reflect on the how well they met the four standards that have been aligned to group work. Then, ask the group if they each agree with the students self-grading. ( It all comes out in the wash here... but you will find at first students are painfully honest about their actions (or lack of) in their groups.
End of the year - Students are able to grade themselves, using the input of their peers, while adhering to the requirements of this rubric (and by now all engage fully in a meaningful way because they understand the expectations).
