Each grade is responsible for studying particular historical figures as part of their Social Studies content. In order to facilitate learning and check for understanding, I have created a “Wanted Poster” template. This will allow students to imagine that they are living in that particular time period and thus apply their knowledge by designing a creative and thought-provoking product.
*The neat thing about this activity is that it can serve as product that demonstrates mastery for not only historical figures but also fictional characters.
• For Example:
o Historical Figures: Christopher Columbus, Paul Revere, George Washington, etc.
o Fictional Characters: Snow White, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, etc.
Breakdown of “Wanted Poster” elements:
o Who: name of historical figure or fictional character
o When: time period
o Where: where he or she was last seen
o Contact: The person from the story for which you would contact. In a fictional story it would be another character that is part of the plot of the story. In historical fiction it would be a person considered part of law enforcement or another historical figure that would be looking for him/her during that time period.
o Charged With: This does not have to be negative “charge.” You may list accomplishments made by this individual. Students should include at least three offenses OR accomplishments depending on your perspective.
