Okay, so this story is a must if you teach the War of 1812 and live in Kentucky! Well, it's pretty much a must if you are a patriotic American! This is the story of one Kentucky sharpshooter present at the Battle of New Orleans during the War of 1812 as told by a British officer. Think "American Sniper" but only in 1815. This is a story of a man that is calm, cool, and collected on the battlefield, and so effective that this British officer admits that they cared not for the thousands of musket balls and cannon shells flying at them, but were terrified of this one man. Have your students read this amazing story and then analyze the document with the questions that follow. It is one that you will use every year when teaching about the War of 1812!
