This booklet was created for students having difficulty differentiating the words "was" and "saw". This common struggle occurs in both early readers as well as students with dyslexia. The story is simple and easily copied with guidelines for cutting the pages (11 numbered) into a 5.5" x 4.25" booklet. The pictures are colored, but you may opt to copy in B&W. Simply cut and staple together in the numbered page order for children to read. "I Was A Saw" is told by a hand saw about the things it made out of wood. Then, when its owner takes the saw to be sharpened, something takes place so that the metal saw is re-made into a part of a car. The words are easy to decode or easy sight words. This has been tried with students struggling to notice these two words' differences and has had excellent results. Another product from Debra A. Boyle, M.Ed.
