The Jefferson Memorial in Washington DC is dedicated to Thomas Jefferson, the main drafter and writer of the "Declaration of Independence".
The monument is in West Potomac Park, across the Tidal Basin from the Lincoln Memorial. Around the memorial are many Japanese cherry trees. These trees were a gift from people of Japan in 1912.
