Students will complete a graphic organizer that has them analyze the domestic and foreign policies of President Washington. Students can work individually or in small groups to complete the assignment. Students will read a brief article that outlines two significant events in Washington's Presidency - The Whiskey Rebellion (domestic) and the French Revolution (foreign). From this article, students will gain information on how our first President viewed the role of the federal government.
This resource includes a paper in-class version and a 1:1 Google compatible version to be used in conjunction with Google Classroom. Just follow the included instructions for how to access the Google version, then share the resource through Google or assign via Google Classroom. This will allow students to type directly into document!
This lesson also includes an alternate essay assignment where students answer the question "Who should Washington support during the French and Indian War: The French and The British?" This information, however, can also be used to supplement the current lesson.
Included are teacher lesson plan, Washington's Ways article, Graphic Organizer for student notebook or binders, Fact Sheet that supports the French, Fact Sheet that supports the British. Also, discussion questions are included on lesson plan that can be posted on board.
