Product Description
This fun and engaging Science Mini Unit includes a series of 4 challenges. Students will work collaboratively, with technology, to complete the challenges in hopes of becoming the next Green Team! This is the perfect addition to your Waste in our World Science unit.

What is Included?
• 4 challenges written in student friendly language so that the kids can work at their own pace
• teaching suggestions including ideas for building excitement
• invitations
• a superhero themed sign for your classroom door
• certificates to give to the students once they have completed the challenges
• editable versions of the student documents

These activities were originally designed to compliment the Grade 4 Alberta Program of Studies. However, the challenges are general enough that they can be applied to other curriculums studying waste.

The following objectives from the Alberta Program of Studies are addressed:
• Compare different kinds of packaging, and infer the relative advantages and disadvantages of that packaging. In evaluating different forms of packaging, students should demonstrate the ability to consider a consumer perspective as well as an environmental perspective.
• Identify ways in which materials can be reused or recycled, including examples of things that the student has done.
• Identify actions that individuals and groups can take to minimize the production of wastes, to recycle or reuse wastes and to ensure the safe handling and disposal of wastes.
• Develop and implement a plan to reduce waste
